LAR OF GALEN...To be objective and accurate, W was still President in 2008. The reason the economy tanked is because of the housing finance crisis. This was a direct result of the Clinton Admin passing laws and regulations that forced banks to make housing loans to people who had no possibility of paying them off. This led to a game of "hot potato". Banks doubled down, seeking to make these bad loans in order to comply. Then, they sold these loans to other lenders for a big discount. The other lenders would buy them at bargain rates, figuring they would make a profit if they collected on even half of them. But as they came due, it was obvious they were going to get stuck. So they played the discount game with other lenders until it all collapsed and the banks were screaming about bankruptcy, forcing the government -- which had started the whole mess -- to bail them out. BO started creating funds out of thin air, and the spiral continued for 8 years. Didn't help that a whole bunch more of this pretend money was "invested" in "renewable energy". Not that it was a commie plot to destroy America or anything like that. Nope, just pure good intentions.
